Tre Spade il Macinino Conical burr coffee grinder SALE

Tre Spade il Macinino Conical burr coffee grinder
The La Pavoni Tre Spade burr grinder in chrome complements La Pavoni lever machines beautifully. The front hopper can hold 1/4lb, and includes 9 grind settings. Coffee can be grinded directly into your coffee handle or into the removable hopper. This unit also has tempered steel burr grinders, and an automatic shut off. One year warranty.Whether your preferred coffee is standard drip, rich Turkish, or a double shot of espresso with a twist, this grinder can achieve the optimum size of freshly ground beans. A simple knob can be dialed from one to nine, providing multiple grinds, while the instruction sheet details which number to use for the brewing style you prefer. The bright chrome finish and sleek walls add a modern touch to the kitchen counter, but at only 4 inches wide, it only needs a little space. A stiff brush is included for cleaning oils and other remains from the blades, which also makes it easy to use for hard spices such as cloves. If accuracy is of top importance to you, this is the grinder to choose. --Jill Lightner

First rate grinder
First rate coffee grinder - seems not to heat coffee at all while grinding, and the range of grinds available is impressive. That said, grinding adjustments are tedious to make if switching from Moka (6) to Turkish coffee (1), for example, but the grinder has given reliable performance for over a year. 'Am very happy with purchase, though in honesty, I bought directly from the US importer in NYS, and not Amazon.

I expected better
Our previous burr grinder passed away in 2009, so I searched for a replacement. Unfortunately, that brand had moved manufacturing from Switzerland to Taiwan, so a change was in order. I searched Amazon for one that looked good, seemed to have good features and had a good chance of being reliable. The La Pavoni made the short list and was ultimately purchased from Amazon. The decision was made primarily on the feature description plus the assumption that Italians must know coffee grinders.

After two plus years of use, the positives and negatives of this product are pretty clear.

Positives: looks good, grinds coffee reasonably well, no failures.

Negatives: sounds like a rock crusher, they give you a cleaning brush for a reason (it needs to be cleaned frequently), the beans don't feed reliably

In all honesty, it is possible the poor feed and the frequent cleanings are a result of the oily beans we use, but I would expect Italian beans to...
Great Product
I think it is unfortunate that the previous reviewer is rating this product with 1 star without actually using it. It is an Italian made grinder that is not only attractive but grinds a perfect grind for my LaPavoni PC-8. You can grind in to your doser or for larger amounts of coffee grind diectly in to the removable hoppper. It's quiet, too. Looks awesome on my countertop.

Grinds great; difficult to clean
This is quieter than most conical burr coffee grinders. The ground coffee beans so far have been of a consistent size. Seems to grind consistently and quickly for my needs. So far, I am impressed. The disappointment came when I attempted to clean the machine. The upper conical burr that is supposed to be easily lifted out is locked or frozen and cannot be removed. Although electra craft has responded to my emails regarding this matter, to send it in for repairs will be at my expense. It is still under warranty. I am not sure that I want to invest any more money with expensive shipping charges to and from. I could by another unit somewhere else for less money. My advice, buy a coffee grinder locally where you can return it if it doesn't work.

Bad grinder for the money
I never write reviews, but I thought I should for this to help keep people from buying a product they might not be happy with. I found many flaws with this grinder and was not at all satisfied. First, the description and instruction booklet aren't accurate. There are 15 grind settings, not 10 (but they aren't actually very different between grinds -- see below). The upper burr can be removed (with significant difficulty) and lower can't be removed. This makes brushing out and cleaning the deeper parts of the grinder fairly difficult. Also, the instruction booklet advises against filling the ground coffee container above the max fill line, but there IS no max line on the ground coffee container. In actual use, I was not at all satisfied with the quality of grind this grinder produced. I used this for french press coffee and the grinder doesn't grind coarse enough or consistently. There was a lot of dust and smaller bits so that when I would go to press my pot, the plunger...
Are we all reviewing the same grinder?
My experience is totally the opposite of some of these reviews. First, it is not quiet, it sounds something like the vacuum cleaner - but that doesn't bother me for the time it takes to grind enough coffee for a cup.

I've started grinding again recently as I've been buying my beans in bulk (cheaper). Pulled out my old Pavani, which I use for regular coffee, and bought this Espressione unit which I use for decaf. I only do one cup at a time.

The grind is beautifully fine (and consistent) - and I could go finer if I wanted to, which would be several grinds finer than my Pavoni gives me. Whenever I finish grinding with the Pavani, there are grounds sticking to the top and sides of the gound coffee hamper; I open it up and get a certain amount of ground coffee around the counter area. When I grind with the Espressioni there is very little static, no coffee is stuck to the lid and very little to the sides and bottom. My counter stays completely clean, and I don't...

Buy if you love coffee
This is the best coffee maker of the many I've had over the years.

It makes a consistantly great brew each time, something I couldn't always count on, even with other Cuisinart models.

The burr grinder and funky automatic drip basket assembly, along with the strength selector give you an easier path to a good cup.

Also, its easier to clean than the less expensive Cuisinart models with the blade based grinders.

Don't overlook the carafe. This one is the thermal model, NOT THE GLASS one. The thermal carafe model doesn't burn the coffee in the pot by heating it. It just insulates it really well so it stays warm for hours. After years of other coffee makers, this feature alone makes it worth it -- the later cups don't taste burnt!

One caution, this carafe has a top that seals in the heat, and when you get near empty is a pain to get out the last drops. When you get to your last pour, just take off the top of the carafe and pour...

Great Coffee Maker!
The coffee maker is just great, but the vac coffee canister, not so much!
It doesn't completely vacuum the air, and it's too small also.

The NEW Baratza Virtuoso Burr Grinder
Since I have only had the Virtuoso for three months I will not discuss the long-term quality. Because I use it primarily for press pot, drip and small espresso batches I was not looking to get a solid consumer grinder, like the more expensive Rancilio Rocky or Mazzer Mini.

Previously I have owned a Starbucks Barista (the Solis verson, not the newer Saeco Titan verson) and the Capresso Infinity 560 Black. The Barista had a long and happy life, and after performing the hack (see coffeegeek.com), made great coffee and pretty good espresso. The Capresso was excellent for drip & press coffee, but only adequate for espresso. I would happily recommend each of these for people that just want a pretty solid cup of Joe, and do not mind it being slightly heated in the process. The Capresso was still running solidly, so do not infer it died early (it cheerfully grinds my wife's flax seeds very well now), I just wanted something better for my espresso shots.

After...

Great product, great customer service!
I have had this grinder since March 2006. It grinds magnificently and is extremely well built. It is by far the cleanest grinder (no spewed grinds everywhere) I have had, and I have had MANY. I recently had an issue were a small rock somehow got into the grinder and caused the gears to strip. One call to customer service and they mailed me a replacement no questions asked! Fantastic!!!

As for the negative review prior to this- File it as uninformed. The grind catcher fits into the machine very snug, this is a good thing because it prevents the grinds from flying all over your countertop. The motor is very powerful (unless you try to grind rocks, see above) and grinds the beans with a low pitched growl. This is a terrific grinder with unparalleled customer support. I highy recommend this grinder.
Excellent Grinder with a few qwerks
I have had this grinder for over a year. It provides a very uniform grind over a wide range of settings. Recently, I had to adjust the grind calibration settings back to original spec by removing the hood & adjusting one screw. Instructions are on the web site, no problem. The grinder grinds again as when new. Quibbles: 1. When turned to the maximum setting, the timer does not keep the grinder grinding long enough to produce enough coffee for a twelve cup maker. You have to turn the timer again for more coffee. 2. Like a number of burr grinders I have used, the beans occasionally hang up in the feeder so that the grinder is running but no beans are being ground. This is more likely to happen with large and/or "candy" finished dark roast beans. Cleaning helps but does not eliminate this problem. Turning the grind adjustment ring to the max while the grinder is running clears up the stoppage, but it is an annoying glitch. Still, produces great coffee.

Best grinder for pour-over, French press, or CafeSolo
The expert reviewers say this may be the best grinder for other than espresso anywhere near its price-point. I researched the heck out of grinders under $400 and chose this one. I am very pleased -- it has lived up to the hype. I prepare coffee using a medium-coarse (not exactly road gravel but significantly finer than French press) grind and an Eva Solo CafeSolo brewer. This grinder was a significant step up from my KitchenAid Pro Line and helped me extract a much better result (more flavor and less bitterness) than my previous efforts. The grinder appears to have a very high build quality.

Caveat #1: I don't make espresso at home, so if you are considering this grinder for espresso, by all means look at other reviews. I can't help you except to repeat what the expert reviewers say (see caveat #2).

Caveat #2: If you haven't read the expert reviews from Coffee Geek, Home Barista, Coava, Prima, Intelligentsia, etc., you really should. You'll get a detailed...

Excellent grinder, but five stars aren't enough for Baratza.
I moved from a city whose name is synonymous with coffee to a barren wasteland (coffee-wise), and decided to take matters into my own hands. The plan: get serious about all my paraphernalia, master drip/pourover/French press extraction, and eventually work my way to espresso. To support this obsession, I needed a good burr grinder that could perform admirably from fine espresso all the way up to coarse French press grounds. In the interest of full disclosure, I was previously using a blade grinder and this is therefore the first burr grinder I've owned.

I selected a highly-rated burr grinder based on Amazon reviews only to realize that Amazon's reviewers may not be sufficiently obsessive, but more practical and more interested in features than grind consistency. After reading reviews on coffee blogs and review sites, and asking around with trusted friends, I ended up choosing the Baratza Virtuoso Preciso because of its consistency, focus on quality rather than features, and...
Consistent, lots of range, low fines, and very little static
I have been looking for a grinder for a while. I spent months hoping to find a deal on a Mazzer Mini, or something else of that quality, hoped to find a deal. I have used a few commercial grade grinders, either borrowing or at friend's houses. I finally became fed up with the search for a deal, and decided to do some new research. After reading a number of reviews I decided to try this grinder. By the way, check out the CoffeeGeek.com "First Impressions Review" - there's great info there.

After using the grinder heavily for a month now, here's my thoughts:

1) This Grinder is very consistent. The particle size is consistent for each setting. I used to work in the screen printing industry, so I have a microscope at home, and I reviewed the ground coffee at a number of different settings. The results are remarkable. As good as my friend's commercial grinder and another Mazzer. If you want to grind for French Press, you will get a consistent large ground size. The...
