Glad I bought it
I am writing this because I had SO much difficulty finding more than a handful of customer reviews online when trying to find a juicer.
My family has been juicing for years now with a popular-brand centrifugal juicer. My stepdad was diagnosed with cancer and we started researching the Gerson Therapy. This juicer is NOT recommended for the Gerson Therapy, but their system is so complicated and expensive we decided to compromise. We went with a twin-gear because it's a much better juicer than a centrifugal but it's not nearly as much trouble as a 2-stage press system.

Anyway, we love it. We estimate we're getting twice as much juice per-veggie than we did with the centrifugal juicer. We juice at least 4 times per week (for 3 people) so we're thinking the price difference will easily be paid in a year just from the savings on produce.

It's also easier to clean than our old one. The hardest part to clean is the mesh screen... it has some tight corners that the...

i like it....!
i have had my gs-elite for almost 3 weeks and i really like it. it performs better for me than the gs-1000 which i have been using for several years.

i like using the wooden plunger because it is gives me a lot more sensitivity when feeding things into the feeding chute.

it seems that the gs-elite makes carrot juicing a bit easier than with the gs-1000.

the clean up is very easy for me and i like the "snap open and close" new style latching arms of the gs-elite.

most of the parts rinse off easily after a short period of soaking in the sink and i use my sink sprayer to 'squirt right on to' and clean the back part of the juicer body where everything attaches. also i can wash the cover easily in my dishwasher if needed and it comes out nice and clean.

one thing i personally enjoy about the gs-elite is that the feeding chute cover- assembly can be turned upside down and placed on a small towel after being washed so that it...

I purchased a Green Star Elite juicer sight unseen with great hopes and high expectations. This is the third twin gear juicer I have owned, the first being a Marathon and the second being a Green Star Gold, and my expectations were dashed when I used the Elite for the first time. I have to say that I am deeply disappointed in the Green Star Elite. In my opinion the design of the Elite is inferior to the Gold and the Marathon.

The twin gears on the Elite and the Gold are the same but the plastic augers on the Elite have been extended another inch or so and the screen has been lengthened a corresponding amount. The performance of the Elite is equivalent to the Gold and I can detect no difference in either the juice or the pulp. The two significant improvements between the Elite and the Gold are the latch mechanism that holds the unit together and the location of the feed chute, which is offset in the Gold and in-line in the Elite. amazing juicer!
i originally was going to buy the breville juicer because of all the hype of fat sick and nearly dead documentary, but they messed up my payment...so i choose this one instead...i got this juicer last week and it is amazing..im a first time juicer and i am conquering all types of juices, my first juice was carrot juice and it was amazing, juice came out great, pulp was dry...i then threw in whole apples, juices those up great...this is a great juicer, and for a first time juicer and beyond i dont think you will be disappointed...oh and clean up is FAST!

Cheap plastic straps
After reading the reviews on several jusicers, I chose this one because it seemed to have the "right stuff". According to the users, it has a good metal bowl, is easy to clean and does a good job of juicing.

I found all these things to be true. The pulp is quite dry, it does a really good job, and the mouth is large enough for good sized pieces to be fed into the juicer. It also has a collection cup that has a wall in it that helps seperate the foam from the juice. Overall we were quite happy with it.

BUT...(read to the end for an update 1 year later)

We have used it less than 100 times, and found a problem. There are locking straps that hold the lid down. instead of making the buckle out of metal, they are made out of plastic, and one of them has broken. We now have a juicer that looks good on the counter, and is not worth much more than a paper weght...

For the first couple of months we were really happy with it, but it is not...
Over all good machine
The whole family has been juicing for a few days now. This machine is designed well and clean up is a breeze. However I've found two things that have made me look into other juicers. The motor slows down with most produce. You have to go relatively easy, even with oranges. I use a tapping motion with the pusher. Also, when juicing enough for everybody (myself, wife, and two toddlers) I usually have to clean half way through because the blade/strainer gets gummy and the catcher gets backed up, even when not all the way full.

BUT!!! The research I have done into more expensive centrifugal styles all seem to have these issues. You'd think higher wattage would solve the bogging problem but maybe not. Masticating juicers seem to be more efficient, but way more expensive.

Again, overall this is working great for us.

You can't go wrong at this price
I was looking for a small, inexpensive juicer today that I can use for a couple of months while I'm away from home and found the Oster juicer at my local store. I'd never heard of the brand before but at under $50 it seemed like a bargain. So I grabbed a bag of veggies and dashed back to give it a whirl.

The mouth where you push the veggies through is a decent size but you will need to slice most veggies at least once before you can fit them in. No big deal, takes about 2 minutes to do the whole lot. The motor is really strong and had no trouble chewing through carrots and beets. It has a decent size pulp catcher that's quick and easy to take off when you need to empty it.

I also like the fact that there is not a huge amount of space between the blade and the plastic thing that's used to push the veggies/fruit down, so small bits don't get stuck in the gap like some previous brands I've used.

I got this juicer about a month now, could'nt wa from it to start juicing as soon as it was delivered. This is one powerful little juicer, i juice everything from beets,apples,pears, grapes,celery,etc. it has change my life for the better, I now go more often to the bathroom,my skin looks better and i no longer dring the garbage called juice from the store. The best juicer for green leafy veggies IF you don't mind assembly, disassembly & clean up.
I've been juicing since the early 1990s and more recently, as a certified raw foods associate chef, have been preparing a wider range of juicer recipes including pates and ice cream from frozen bananas. I have experience with Green Star, Champion, Juiceman, and several other juicers, and have read quite a bit about various models of juicers. If you are going to be juicing a lot of greens such as kale and parsley, the Green Star will give you a better and more nutritious yield than any juicer on the market. It far exceeds masticating juicers such as the Champion in this regard, as well as centrifugal juicers such as the Juiceman. A huge benefit of Green Star is that it juices wheat grass, so you will not need a dedicated wheat grass juicer. It's also amazingly quiet, far quieter (and a bit slower) than my Champion. excellent for my needs
I've been juicing for 20 years. My description of the Green Star 1000 is based on my experience with an old Champion, a new Champion, and an old Wheateena grass juicer. The Green Star spits pulp out the end so you can juice continuously just like the other juicers. The pulp discharged is always quite dry and completely shredded and it extracts a maximum amount of very high quality juice from everything it juices well. Exceptions are described below. It leaks a little juice into the pulp at the very start of juicing, like any juicer, which you can feed back through, of course. It has a nice glass pitcher. It didn't leak any juice onto the counter or spray carrot fiber out the discharge all over the counter like my Champion. It runs very quiet, unlike the Champion, and doesn't require any messy greasing before use like the other juicers. It has a convenient handle and storage compartment for the electrical cord. It never bogged down under load like my Champion does when...
Fabulous Juice--Hopefully Worth the Wait
Green Life juicers are about the only models recommended by my nutritionist. He shuns centrifugal juicers that use air in the extraction process, which he says leads to oxidation. Instead, the Green Star has a "close-case-crush-press" system, which crushes your food between two counter-rotating steel gears. You're left with juice that zings.

But nice has a price. My biggest let-down with this juicer was finding out that it doesn't go through veggies as fast as my garbage disposal. At its fastest, the Green Star gives you a thin stream of juice that takes quite a while to fill the collection bowl.

The other let-down in versatility. It does all right with flaccid, stringy, leafy foods like parsley and cilantro. But if there's any firmness to them--anything from cucumbers to celery to lemons--the juicer needs help. So before using the juicer I do a lot of pre-chopping.

Great, quiet juicer
I ordered this juicer due to the reviews and the price. The certified remanufactured model looks brand new and I am pretty sure it is brand new. It was in all the original packaging. I wanted something compact and quiet. Cleaning is easy and takes only 2-3 minutes. I just take the entire top section off and rinse it off in the sink and wash the pulp down the drain. You have to clean out the pulp after making 2 16oz juices because it fills up. It's very quiet and juices quickly. i have not observed any leakage from anywhere on the machine while juicing. Occasionally, small pieces of leafy veggies will fly out of the top while juicing. I recommend putting leafy veggies in before the other fruits/veggies to keep them from flying out.

Works just fine as the original one
I wasn't sure if this would break on me right away, but so far here is what i have: daily 5lb carrots and 5lb apples, and from time to time some other exotic stuff. What i love its a simple 1-2-3 assembly. Easy to clean easy to put back together. So far i have not felt anything that would tell me it was refurbished.

We've been wanted and juicer for awhile and then we watched "Fat, Sick, And Nearly Dead" which was the tipping point for buying one. Scoped out this model on Amazon and it was affordable and had good reviews (other listing on amazon has somewhere around 800+ reviews). More Pulp than Juice
The Juiceman appears to be a great value at first. This appliance looks and feels sturdy and comes with two types of juicer. One is the classic "spinning cone" that you press a half a citrus against. It's essentially a motorized version of the glass juicer that we have just about all used at one time or another. The other juicer function is the "juice extractor" which is the configuration pictured in the Amazon website photo. This is the way we spent our testing time, in this configuration, and we were frankly kind of disappointed. The Juiceman produced juice, but it produced a LOT more pulp. I found I could get about as much juice by hand squeezing the pulp at the end of an extraction than the extraction itself. Seemed odd. We followed all the instructions, and our observation is that the recipe yields in the instruction book are optimistic at best. In general, it seemed to take us about twice as many apples to make a cup of juice as suggested in the book. It seemed to take about...

Good but not perfect
I was excited to try out this Juiceman Juice Extractor, as I had never owned a juicer before. Overall, it's a pretty nice product.

Pros:
+ Easy to assemble and take apart. It was fairly intuitive for me to put this together without needing instructions.
+ Simple to clean. I don't have a dishwasher, but the product says that it's dishwasher safe. I was also happy to find that there is a toothbrush-like cleaning tool included, to help clean the filter piece.
+ Simple to close the juice spout. This is a small, but useful feature, for when you are switching out the juice collection container
+ Two speeds. The fruits I used worked fine on the slower speed, but it's nice to know that there's a more powerful setting available.
+ Comes with a citrus attachment. This is great for making orange juice, lemonade, and other citrus drinks.
+ Recipes included in booklet. There were only a few, but it's a nice place to start.

Don't waste your money
A little loud. I didn't mind because it was just for a few minutes. I didn't find cleanup that tedious, but I made sure to clean it as soon as I was finished juicing. My problem is that it broke after only two weeks of use. I had cut a small beet into four parts and was juicing the fourth quarter when the top cracked and broke. Disappointed. Based on a couple of other reviews, I will be purchasing the lower-end Breville to make sure I'm going to keep up with my juicing habit before I invest a lot of money into one of the more expensive models.

UPDATE January 26, 2012
I ordered the Breville BJE200XL 700-Watt Compact Juice Fountain and it arrived two days ago. While I can't yet comment on the durability (I will at a later date), I can say that the Breville is head and shoulders above the Juiceman. I am getting double juice yields. The Breville is even doing a fairly good job with the leafy vegetables ... the Juiceman couldn't juice those. It is also a more stable machine...

JUNK -- do not buy
My son gave this juicer to me as a Xmas gift. The first time we used it (unfortunately after the 30 day return policy had expired from GNC), there was a burning smell.
We stopped running the apples through it.
The second time we used it a week later the result was the same
The third time it would not come on at all.

After running this juicer for about 35 days, with casual juicing, maybe 3 times a week, the juicer began to smoke. We turned the juicer off immediately and gave it a week off. After a few weeks of juicing, it started doing it again, so we did the same thing, turned it off and gave it a week off. When we went to juice again, the juicer would not come on at all. I can not return the juicer, and since I received this as a christmas present, I can not send it in with the original receipt, so the company is unwilling to do anything about it. I would stay clear of this juicer, and spend an extra 50 bucks and get a lower end breville.
Very good juicer for the price...
In my search for a juicer, I borrowed this model from a friend. It is a centrifugal juicer with two speeds, high and low. It has a feed chute wide enough for three carrots or a small apple. The motor is powerful and quiet. It made juice with carrots, celery, cucumber, parsley, ginger, and lemon with no difficulty. I also frequently made pomegranate juice by dropping the seeds down the chute with the motor running on low for fabulous fresh pomegranate juice (takes a while to remove the jewel seeds from the pith, but the juice was great). The pulp bin contained only the seeds by doing it this way. I found that when I put the seeds in the chute before I turned on the machine, I got a lot of juicy pulp, but by dropping them in after the motor was running I got a lot of juice and the pulp bin full of dry seeds.

Like all juicers it has a large footprint on counter space. It comes with a covered pitcher that prevents the juice from splattering the kitchen. The pitcher...

An Excellent Choice and Affordable Too
I purchased this Black and Decker juicer a few years ago and it is still working fine. I feel it is one of the most effective juicers and the price is right! Most juicers are horribly expensive and difficult to clean. This juicer comes apart easily and all the pieces can be washed in the dishwasher.

I find this juicer works best when you cut pieces of fruit and vegetables fairly small. After a few times you learn how small to cut the produce. Like a cucumber must be cut in fourths and apples must be cut into small slices.

If there are any problems with this juicer it is that it vibrates quite a bit while being used. It seems better if you put a cloth/rag under the juicer. This helps to keep the cup collecting the juices stable. It also collects drips and keeps the counter clean.

I have used juicers in the past which were much more difficult to clean so I think that is something to think about especially if you are going to go on a juice fast or use the...

Excellent for the price
We owned this juicer for the past 4 years. In the beginning we used it maybe once a week but last year we used it every day and it has worked excellently. We mainly juiced carrots but did everything from the leafy vegetable to hard fruits. Just recently we tried to use it and it won't turn on. This juicer was more than worth the price. The only complaint I had while using int was that there was one small place, near the juice spout that was hard to clean out. Overall this was worth the money.

Motor smoked after the first hour of use. I did a few apples and kiwis, and a bag of carrots.

Also, you have to cut carrots in half, as the intake is small.

Not even going to bother RMAing it, as I already tossed the box out. Just going to grab a sturdier model at the local store.

Great affordable juicer
I am an avid juicer and I have been using a Breville Juice Fountain Elite for the past 3 years. This juicer actually has many of the features of the Juice Fountain Elite and works just about as well.

The T-fal Balanced Living juice extractor is easy to assemble and take apart. The plastic parts are dishwasher safe and the stainless steel filter comes with a cleaning brush. If you do put the plastic parts in the dishwasher I would suggest turning off the heat dry, just in case; and hand washing the filter basket with the cleaning brush. The feed tube is extra wide and can fit whole pears and apples, although I would suggest coring the apples because the seeds can contain trace elements of cyanide.

I made apple ginger juice this morning and it turned out perfect. I use the lower speed for most items because slower juicing seems to yield a bit more juice, so I usually let the items feed through the tube instead of forcing them with the pusher. Because my Breville is...

Easy setup, quick to clean, sturdier parts than other juicer I have used, large capacity
Pros:
-Large capacity. Enough for a family or a full day's juicing needs.
-Powerful motor makes short work of beets, stems, etc
-VERY sturdy mesh disc - much stronger and stiffer than what I have seen in other models
-Quick clean-up. No special tools required and design makes emptying shredded vegetable matter clean and quick

Cons:
-Pitcher seems to drip more than our other juicer
-Instructions suck - I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out how to remove the wire disc. It was annoying at the time, though I am past it now.

We have been using a Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain 700-Watt Juice Extractor. It's great but I found it too small sometimes for the amount of juice we want to make for long bike rides or when we have company. It also struggles sometimes with beets and other tough vegetables. Its design also make it a little messy to clean up...
I love this thing, great value for the price.

great machine for the price
I got this juicer at a thrift store the other day.. and we have been happily juicing ever since!

if you don't have a lot of money to spend, or if you are not sure you will use a juicer much, or if you need a lightweight unit to take traveling or to college, i would highly recommend this unit. it is easy to clean, relatively compact, and - guess what - it juices! yes, you could get a better juicer, but i think for the price it is a great buy. I consider it the toyota of juicers: i'd love the BMW, but i can only afford the toyota, and they will both get me to where i need to be.

i took off one star because the feed tube is small, so you do have to cut items to fit. so.. that takes about another 30 seconds out of my day.
